What we collect

Your account: your name, email address and date of birth.

What you create and send: files and YouTube links you turn into courses, the courses built from them, chat messages, quiz answers and code you send to the tutor.

How you use Ostaz: your daily Ostaz Energy use, streaks, scores and progress.

Technical data: your browser and device type, and error reports when something breaks.

Coupons: the codes you redeem. Coupons are sold by resellers; we never see card or payment details.

How we use it

To run Ostaz: build your courses, answer your questions, make quizzes, flashcards and exercises, and keep your progress.

To apply your plan's limits and Ostaz Energy, and to keep the service safe and working.

To understand which features help students, so we can improve them.

AI providers

To build courses and to answer, quiz and review your work, the relevant course material and your messages are sent to OpenAI. OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default.

Ads

Students without a subscription may see ads from Google on browsing pages such as Home and Search. There are never ads inside your lessons, chats or quizzes, and subscribers see none.

Google may use cookies or device identifiers to show and measure ads, and, for users 13 and older, to personalise them. For users under 13, ads are non-personalised and marked as directed to children.

Watching an ad for Ostaz Energy is optional and only starts when you choose it.

You can turn off personalised ads in Google's Ad Settings (adssettings.google.com). Visitors from the EU, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first. Google explains how it uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Cookies and storage

We use cookies and your browser's storage to keep you signed in, remember your language and settings, measure how Ostaz is used, and, where ads are shown, for Google's advertising.

Who helps us run Ostaz

We share data only with providers that run parts of the service for us: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database and file storage), Upstash (fast storage for usage limits), OpenAI (AI), Mixpanel (product analytics), Sentry (error reports) and Google (ads). We do not sell your personal data.

Children

Ostaz is used by school students. Students under 13 only get non-personalised ads and never get rewarded ads. A parent or guardian can contact us to see or delete a child's data.

Keeping and deleting data

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your own courses at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account and its data.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or to stop personalised ads, by contacting us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we update this page and its date.
